Jean Buzelin is a graphist, a drawer and a painter, and jazz and journalist, jazz critic. Diploma from l'Ecole des Arts Appliqués of Paris, Atelier Singier (paintings) at the Beaux-Arts School of Paris. From 1968 till 1971 : Paintings mostly inspired by Jazz, published its first humouristic drawings in 1970 and in 1975, he joins Jazz Hot as jazz critic. Then, in 1978 till 1980, he published humoristic drawings on jazz and a monthly page with the title : "En avant la Buzique". Since then, he has published a large amount of drawings inspired by music in lot of newspapers : La Petite Quinzaine, le Monde de la Musique, Soul bag, Jazz Magazine... et regularly in Jazzman since 1992. He had been producer with Radio France (France Musique) from 1979 till 1979. Sincre 1977, he has realized and illustrated a large number of sleeves for records and CD as well as picture posters about music. As journalist and jazz critic, he has collaborated, amongts others, with Jazz Hot (1975-1980), Le Jazzophone (1981-1984), Soul Bag (since 1981), Jazz Magazine, Les Cahiers du Jazz... and Jazzman (since 1992). Jean Buzelin is also author and co-author of several books related to jazz and blues, in charge of a program for republication of records, writer of numerous texts of librettos, and is a specialist who intervenes in conferences, training programs, etc... about the History of Afro-American music and contemporary improvisation. |
