Huchette Jazz Band at Cheserex Jazz Festival

Le Caveau de la Huchette, the famous Parisian jazz club, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year. To mark the occasion one of its regulars, the famous clarinet player Jacky MILLIET temporarily deserts the Caveau to play at the Theatre de Verdure on Thursday 2- July at 21h, with Eric LUTER (tp,voc), Jean Pierre DUMONTIER (tb) ,Philippe DERVIEX (p), Jean Yves PETIOT (b) and Pommy ARNAUD (d). They promise us a great evening of traditional jazz of which Jacky is one of its unrivalled masters.
JACKY MILLIET has performed with other great names of jazz: Bill Coleman, Claude Luter, Mezz Mezzrow, Marc Laferrière and plays regularly at the best venues in Paris: the Slow Club, the Caveau de la Huchette, the Petit Journal, the Léonard de Vinci, and at the famous Canecao in Rio de Janeiro and the Meridien in New Orleans. He contributed to a number of famous festivals: Grande Parade du Jazz de Nice, Paris, Frankfurt, Marciac, Lafayette and many others. On top of his commitment to the Caveau de la Huchette he currently plays in a quintet with Marc Laferrière in the musical “Nuit du Ragtime and Boogie Woogie” and performs worldwide with banjo player – vocalist Cynthia Sayer and various bands.
The Caveau de la Huchette Jazz Band was a great success from the onset, not only at the club itself but at a number of festivals. Amongst his large number of recordings (see the site Jacky Milliet) is the most recent one, recorded in Marciac and Mégève: Jacky Milliet and his “Caveau de la Huchette” Jazz Band, Paris, Live in Marciac and Mégève.
POUMY ARNAUD, at the origins of the Jazz Clan, was part of the orchestra of Sidney Bechet and has performed with all the greats in jazz: Bill Coleman, Al Grey and many others. Since 1987 he is the artistic director of the Mégève Jazz Festival and the Mégève Jazz contest both of which he created. He is an “international honorary citizen of the town of New Orleans”.
ERIC LUTER, son of Claude Luter, played for ten years with the New Orleans Cyril Band Orchestra and later founded the swing vocal group Triocéphale.
JEAN – PIERRE DUMONTIER plays the trombone, the piano and the base-saxophone as well as being an arranger. He was part of the Big band of Roger Guérin and of the quintet of Olivier Franc, together with Marc Richard he participated in the creation of the Paris Swing Orchestra, sets up the Tempo Swing Quartet, followed by Jofo and Cie.
PHILIPPE DERVIEUX initially a classical pianist, plays jazz piano with Aaron Bridgers, and plays in modern jazz bands as well as in traditional big band orchestras.
The five artists perform regularly in the best Paris jazz clubs and all over France.
