Azzuro, Niepold, Maslakov, Chojnacki

Following a meeting with Richard Galliano at the Académie Musicale of Villecroze in October 2013, the four musicians came together as a musical group in affinity and decided to create an international quartet. The purpose was to explore classical music and transform it into unique piece of Jazz music, with each of them adding a personal touch from his or her multiple artistic experience. This concert is a world original creation and expected to be a unique and beautiful performance. 

Aleks Maslakov was born in 1985 in Daugavpils (Latvia). At the age of 8 years he started to play the accordion at the music school in Daugavpils. Subsequently, he started to play the accordion with  Valery Hodukin at a Music College in Daugavpils. While studying, he won international competitions in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Russia, Finland and Italy. Further music education was achieved in the class of accordion of professors Hugo Noth and Hans Maier at the “Hochschule für Musik Trossingen” (Germany). In 2006 he created the music project D’Accord. He composed the music for the project and performs concerts in jazz clubs in Germany and in different venues in Europe. Since 2009 he works as a teacher and as a conductor in some accordion clubs in Germany. 2011 - Winner of the 1. Open Contest in Trossingen (Germany); 2012 - 2.Price in category "I" on an accordion competition “Citta di Castelfidardo” (Italy); 2013 - Master Class by Richard Galliano at “Academie Musicale de Villecroze” (France); He plays in different styles: swing, gypsy jazz, modern jazz, free jazz, funk, fusion, tango nuevo, classic, new music.

Fanny Azzuro, though still young, already has built up a rich and impressive career. Winner of prestigious international awards : the World Piano Competition in Cincinnati, Piano Campus in Cergy-Pontoise, Lalla Meryem in Rabat, Vulaines-sur-Seine, and ADAMI, SAFRAN, Mécénat Musical Société Générale, SPEDIDAM and Meyer, who support her artistic  projects, she is invited to perform on national and international stage : New York Piano Festival, Bowdoin Music Festival, Texas Piano Festival, Washington, and in various European countries and in China and South America. After having studied piano in Montpellier, then in Paris with Olivier Gardon (CRR)  and with Théodore Paraskivesco, Laurent Cabasso and Denis Pascal at the  CNSM and with Tuija Hakkila at Sibelius Academy of Helsinky, she is admitted at the International Piano Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in advanced piano class with Boris Petrushansky. At the same time, she completed her Master degree in chamber music at the CNSMDP with Spiritango, her Quartet with whom she recorded her first album, «Rage». Other influence have stimulated her musical curiosity : the Russian pianist Vladimir Viardo, Dominique Merlet, Dmitri Bashkirov, Jacques Rouvier, Aldo Ciccolini, Jay Gottlieb, Gisèle Magnan… And with jazzmen like Tigran Hamasyan, Hervé Sellin and the Spiritango, she develop and multiply her experience.  Her first album solo « Russian Impulse » will be available in September 2014.

Zbigniew Chojnacki - improvises, composes, contemplates. He believes in a theory that even the smallest element must serve a specific purpose. He is a student of jazz at a post-secondary school in Warsaw. He collaborates with polish jazz violin player legend Michal Urbaniak and Otto Williams, Frank Parker, Troy Miller, Jacek Kochan. He was a participant in the master class in Villecroze lead by a French accordionist - Richard Galliano . He does not reject any musical style; claims that even an old washing machine can be inspiring. He is  the laureate of international and nationwide competitions :

A) Ist place Tarnow Jazz Festival contest in the category of open solo
B) 2nd prize at 35 Accordion Festival in castelfidardo in the category of jazz
  and light music in 2010.
  Ist place on accordion festival in Przemysl in the category of light music

Anne Niepold discovered the diatonic accordion at 13. She attended numerous training sessions, with musicians like Bruno le Tron, Didier Laloy, Norbert Pignol, Stéphane Milleret or Philippe Thuriot. Then she has changed styles from traditional music to find her way in improvised music and Jazz and moved towards Jazz composition and arrangement with Kris Defoort at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. In 2008, she obtained her agregation and is currently a teacher at the asbl Muziekpublique and at the Academy of Sint-Agatha-Berchem, as well as in numerous international training sessions. During her studies, she performed regularly in concerts in various stages and clubs  in Belgium or abroad. She has received a number of awards for her work : Carte Blanche at the Art Festival of Huy in 2013, Toots Thielemans Award for her performance in Jazz composition and arrangement at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, The Gus Viseur Prize for her CD record Gardadvergur. She is also engaged in a projet of musical education in a tibetan refugee camp in Ladakh.
